The issues of improving air quality monitoring in the country were discussed at a conference held at the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environmental and Agriculture.
The event was part of the project "Strengthening Data Processing and Modeling Capacities to Improve Air Quality Monitoring in the Country - Phase II".
The foreign experts and representatives of the National Environment Agency summarized the activities carried out within the project to improve air quality management and monitoring and the results achieved.
"It is important to note that from next year the Swedish government will transfer eight new stations to the National Environment Agency, which will allow us to strengthen the air quality monitoring system and take appropriate measures to improve air quality in cities where the issue remains challenging," said Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the National Environmental Agency, government and non-government sectors, academia, local municipalities and civil society.
The project “Strengthening Data Processing and Modeling Capabilities to Improve Country Air Quality Monitoring - Phase II” was supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden.
