"After 2015, significant steps were taken to establish a modern air quality management system. A legislative framework compliant with European directives has been adopted.
Air quality monitoring network has been developed; 10 years ago we did not have any online monitoring stations, today there are already 8 such stations across the country and 9 more stations will be added this year. It is important that we have made air quality data public and any citizen can view it online on a special portal.
"Our goal is to have monitoring systems fully in line with European standards by 2024," said Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, addressing Parliament in the “Ministerial Hour” format.
