Under the EU-supported project (TIMMOD), water surveys were conducted in the Black Sea
Aquaculture
The National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promoting Technology Innovation in Environmental Monitoring and Modelling for Assessment of Fish Stock and Non-Fish Resources “ (TIMMOD), conducted pilot demonstration surveys with the collective participation of experts of the Agency and the representatives of the project partner countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Moldova and Greece).
Biological and chemical water quality studies were carried out at several locations using a multi-sensor probe and a high-tech underwater robot. Additional performance indicators were collected by monitoring water quality and fish abundance to facilitate the assessment and model of fish stocks.
As part of the project, a workshop was held where participants summarised the results of their research.
The project aims to promote the protection of the Black Sea basin and coordinate marine litter reduction using innovative technologies. The project aims to assess fish and non-fish resources and improve environmental monitoring.
