Hydrometeorology

The National Environmental Agency of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and CENN have signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish climate services.

This cooperation is part of the EU-supported research and innovation program, "Creating Innovative Climate Services through the Integration of Scientific and Local Knowledge" (I-CISK).

As part of the project, the water resources of the Alazani River Basin will be assessed against the background of climate change. In addition, the parties will jointly develop a long-term hydrological forecasting system in the Alazani River Basin, in which experts will be involved.

As part of this initiative, CENN donated charging equipment for hydrometeorological stations to the National Environmental Agency to improve data collection in the Alazani Basin. The project will identify the challenges related to water resource management in the context of climate change in the Alazani Basin and identify relevant research issues.
