September 18 is World Water Monitoring Day!
Environmental pollution monitoring
Specialists of the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department of the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, within the framework of the World Water Monitoring Day, took water samples from the Aragvi River.
Physico-chemical parameters were determined in the samples taken, and organic and inorganic pollutants and heavy metals will be tested in the agency's atmospheric air, water and soil analysis laboratory, the results of which will be announced in a few days.
World Water Monitoring Day was established in 2003 by the American Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) and has been celebrated annually since then. This day aims to raise public awareness and their involvement in protecting the world's water resources.
It should be noted that important steps have been taken by the National Environment Agency in the direction of improving water quality monitoring. The monitoring network was expanded and the number of parameters to be determined increased.
