Rustavi city hosted a public discussion of the draft air quality management plan for the central zone for 2023-2025
Environmental pollution monitoring
Organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the National Environmental Agency in Rustavi, a public discussion of the draft plan for managing atmospheric air quality in the central zone for 2023-2025 was held.
The central air quality monitoring and management zone includes the regions of Kvemo and Shida Kartli and the municipality of Mtskheta. The developed plan describes a number of activities related to the improvement of air quality in the central part of the city.
The main priorities of this plan are the reduction of pollutant emissions from the industrial, construction and transport sectors. The presented management plan also includes greening measures aimed at improving air quality. The plan includes issues such as expanding air quality monitoring, assessing the impact of air pollution on human health, and raising public awareness.
With the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden, within the framework of the project “Improving air quality policy development through the introduction of integrated air pollution monitoring tools”, the meeting was held in a hybrid mode and jointly with representatives of the Ministry, international and local experts, St. Petersburg. The event was attended by the heads of the Rustavi City Hall, representatives of the municipalities of Kvemo Kartli, the private sector, the media, government and non-governmental organizations and the local population.
