The Central Zone Air Quality Management Plan for 2023-2025 has been developed
Environmental pollution monitoring
Under the current sub-project «Improving air quality policy development capacity through the implementation of integrated air pollution monitoring tools» The National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture developed an air quality management plan for 2023-2025, with the participation of Georgian and European experts.
The plan provides for the implementation of appropriate measures to improve the air quality in the central zone.
The central monitoring and air quality management area includes the regions of Kvemo and Shida Kartli, as well as the municipality of Mtskheta.
The mentioned plan corresponds to the «rules of development, monitoring and evaluation of political documents», approved by the Decree of the Government of Georgia N629 of 20 December 2019, and represents the national legislative obligation, which is also provided for in the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union, as well as relevant European directives.
The Central Zone Management Plan, developed with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden, was approved by Decree N1431 of 7 August 2023.
