Specialists of the National Environmental Agency study the processes developing in Guria

A group of geologists and hydrologists from the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has been in Guria since the morning to assess the developing processes.
On 8 September, during the night hours, heavy precipitation on the Guria side and Adjara caused a significant increase in the level of water on rivers, floods on small rivers, the emergence and intensification of landslides in mountain areas.
As a result of heavy rains, houses were flooded, fields, trees were broken, land masses collapsed, several villages of Guria were cut off from the outside world.
A team of geologists and hydrologists from the National Environmental Agency arrived at the site as soon as possible after the development of the processes; Six specialist teams from the Agency were engaged. Not only visual inspection, but also instrumental control is carried out.
Experts from the National Environmental Agency continue to study the situation on the ground. Additional information will be made available to the public without delay.
