Head of the National Environmenta Agency Vasil Gedevanishvili met with representatives of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, who are on a working visit to Georgia within the framework of the «Save Nature-Georgia» project. Head of the Environmental Program of the Swedish Embassy in Georgia Khatuna Zaldashvili was present at the meeting.
The parties discussed the issues of modern approaches to monitoring air quality, as well as discussed opportunities and directions for further cooperation.
The Swedish delegation also visited the agency’s laboratory for modern standards of analysis of atmospheric air, water and soil. The delegation members also inspected the automatic air quality monitoring station established within the project «Save nature - Georgia».
It should be noted that the project of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia «Save Nature - Georgia» with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) has been implemented since 2021. One of the objectives of the project is to expand the air quality monitoring network in Georgia and to improve air quality. It is important that many steps have been taken in this direction within the framework of the project, 2 new, modern standard monitoring stations have been opened. The air quality monitoring network of the National Environmental Agency will be expanded with 8 automatic and 1 mobile stations.
