Meeting with the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Slovak Republic
Head of the National Environmental Agency Vasil Gedevanishvili met with Consul Zuzana Paloshova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Georgia and Head of the Development Cooperation Department.
At the meeting the sides discussed the implemented and ongoing projects in the direction of environmental protection in Georgia with the support of the Government of Slovakia. It was noted that a number of projects have been implemented in the National Environmental Agency in cooperation with Slovak partners over the last decade, which has significantly contributed to strengthening water monitoring capacities in the country. The conversation also touched upon the prospects for further cooperation.
It should be noted that the National Environmental Agency is implementing the project «Installation and implementation of modern analytical methods for determination of organic pollutants in accordance with the European Water Directives»which is implemented by the Slovak University of Technology (STUBA).
Within the framework of the project, the capacity of agency staff to implement the requirements of the Water Framework Directive is being strengthened, as well as training in this area is being conducted to introduce modern analytical methods.
