Information about Spontaneous Natural Processes
Geology
Eight groups of geologists from the LEPL National Environmental Agency remain in the disaster zones developed on the territory of Georgia and continue to study the events on the ground. These include four groups in Adjara, three in Imereti, and one in Shida Kartli.
Landslides and mudflow events have been recorded in Adjara, while landslides have been reported in Imereti.
From February 6 to the present date, the geologist teams have assessed 189 families. Preventive measures have been implemented, resulting in the relocation of 94 families to safer locations. The agency's specialists have provided recommendations for further protective and disaster prevention measures.
Currently, in Shida Kartli, near the village of Tashiskari, where landslide and debris flow processes occurred, cleaning operations are underway following the recommendations of the agency's specialists, in order to mitigate risks associated with the further development of natural elemental processes.
It should be noted that in recent days, across the country - particularly in the municipalities of Baghdati, Khashuri, Gori, Lanchkhuti, Vani, Samtredia, Tchiatura, Khulo, and Keda - the intensive snowmelt process, combined with heavy rain, had led to the activation of various natural events such as landslides, mudflows, floods, flash floods, and snow avalanches on already vulnerable territories
