Updated Information about Spontaneous Natural Processes

Geology

Three groups of geologists from the National Environmental Agency remain in the disaster zones across Georgia and continue to study the events on the ground. Two of the groups are in the Imereti region, and one group is in the Racha territory. Landslides have been recorded in Imereti, while both landslides and mudflows have been observed in Racha.

Between February 6 and 12, the geologist teams assessed the situation for 541 families (including those in the Adjara region), preventive measures were taken, and about 300 families were reallocated to safer areas. The agency's specialists have provided respective recommendations for further protective and disaster prevention measures.

It should be noted that in recent days, the intensive snowmelt process throughout the country, combined with heavy rainfall, has led to the activation of various natural events such as landslides, mudflows, floods, flash floods, and snow avalanches in already vulnerable territories.
