Updated Information on Geological Surveys

Geology

The Department of Geology of the National Environmental Agency continues countrywide surveys.

Over the past 10 days, six groups of specialists have visited the regions of Racha-Lechkhumi, Imereti, Shida Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti, specifically in the municipalities of Oni, Ambrolauri, Tsageri, Kharagauli, Zestafoni, Baghdati, Khoni, Adigeni, Borjomi, Khashuri, and Kareli.

In the process of field surveys, the geologist teams evaluated both residential plots and houses, as well as various infrastructure facilities.

Over the mentioned period, the teams assessed 171 families and 34 infrastructure objects. The agency's specialists have provided respective recommendations for further protective and disaster prevention measures.

It should be noted that recently, the snowmelt process has been occurring intensively throughout the country, which, in turn, has led to the initiation and activation of natural processes of various scale (landslides, mudflows, floods, water falls, snow avalanches) in already tense areas.
