A Modern Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station Inaugurated in Zugdidi

Environmental pollution monitoring

15 ambient air quality monitoring stations, including 13 automatic stations and 2 mobile stations, are now operating throughout the country.

A new automatic station has been added to the ambient air quality monitoring network in Zugdidi as part of the "Save the Nature - Georgia" project, supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Swiss government.

The head of the National Environmental Agency, Mr. Vasil Gedevanishvili, inaugurated the new station with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Ms. Anna Lyberg.

The head of the agency discussed the expansion of the ambient air quality monitoring network and the measures implemented in this direction in recent years.

The ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia underlined the significance of the beneficial partnership between the two countries.

The Head of the Development Cooperation Environmental Program of the Swedish Embassy, Ms. Khatuna Zaldastanishvili, the Deputy State Representative in the Samegrelo - Zemo Svaneti region, Mr. Gaga Kukhaleishvili, the Deputy Mayor of Zugdidi city, Mr. Maizer Nanava, the project manager of the central implementation unit of the "Save the Nature - Georgia" project, Ms. Natia Beridze, as well as representatives from international organizations and local government, attended the opening ceremony of the station.

Data from the new stations installed as part of the project will be gradually made available on the portal of the National Environmental Agency at www.air.gov.ge.
