The Head of the National Environmental Agency Met with Representatives of the Italian Company Regarding InSAR Technologies
The Head of the National Environmental Agency, Mr. Vasil Gedevanishvili, met with the founder and Executive Director of the Italian company TRE-Altamira, Mr. Paolo Ferrari, and scientists from the University of Florence.
Representatives from the Geology and Hydrometeorology Departments of the National Environmental Agency, as well as experts and specialists in the field, attended the meeting. Italian scientists made presentations on natural hazard studies using modern technologies, including remote sensing InSAR techniques. It is important to note that satellite images allow for the monitoring of landslide processes.
In the context of global climate change, Georgia, like the rest of the world, is experiencing an increase in disastrous processes. Therefore, integrating InSAR techniques into relevant agencies, including the National Environmental Agency, will significantly enhance the development of disaster management strategies.
Currently, these technologies are being actively implemented and developed worldwide. It is important to note that integrated monitoring, forecasting, and the preparation and dissemination of early warnings for natural hazards in mountainous regions across various countries are conducted comprehensively, involving the participation of relevant responsible agencies.
