Study Visit to Trabzon

Aquaculture

Specialists from the Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Biodiversity Department and the Licensing Department of the National Environmental Agency participated in workshops on fisheries and aquaculture held in Trabzon. The workshops were organized by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Central Fisheries Research Institute (SUMAE).

The training course covered topics related to aquaculture permit conditions and environmental requirements, as well as fish diseases, environmental assessments, and mathematical models for industrial fish stock assessment.

The Agency specialists also learned about the current state of aquaculture activities in the Republic of Turkey, relevant legislation and regulations, the principles of operation of inland water and sea cage enterprises, and the principles of environmental impact assessment. They also underwent practical training in diagnosing bacteriological, viral, parasitic, and non-contagious fish diseases.

Participation in the mentioned seminars workshops  contributes to the professional development of the Agency's specialists, the exchange of experience, and, consenquently, the introduction of the principles of sustainable fishing and aquaculture in the country.
