Climate forecast for the summer season of 2024

Hydrometeorology

At the Climate Forecasting Forum for Southeast European countries (SEECOF-31), a climate forecast for the summer season of 2024 was developed for the territory of Georgia. This forecast is based on the results of dynamic and statistical modeling, as well as the interrelationships of processes in the ocean and atmosphere.

According to the forecast, during the summer season, the average air temperature will be 1-2 degrees higher than the climatic norm, and ambient precipitation is expected to be within the norm, in the entire territory of Georgia.

During certain days of the summer season, significant deviations in air temperature from the climatic norm may occur. Specifically, temperatures in the country's plains can reach +39 to +42 degrees Celsius, while mountainous areas may experience temperatures of +37 to +40 degrees, and high mountain regions could see temperatures ranging from +32 to +35 degrees. Additionally, during specific periods of the season, extreme weather events typical of summer, such as heat waves, droughts, or heavy precipitation, may also be observed.
