A modern ambient air quality monitoring station has been opened in Mestia

Environmental pollution monitoring

A new automatic station has been added to the ambient air quality monitoring network. Currently, there are 18 ambient air quality monitoring stations operating throughout the country, including 15 automatic stations and 3 mobile stations.

Within the framework of the "Save the Nature - Georgia" cooperation program between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and Sweden, the new station was inaugurated by the Head of the National Environmental Agency, Mr. Vasil Gedevanishvili, along with local self-government representatives and Natia Beridze, Head of the Central Implementation Unit of the "Save the Nature - Georgia" project.

It is worth noting that the station is equipped with modern standard equipment, allowing the National Environmental Agency to receive complete data on ambient air quality within 24 hours. As a result of monitoring, the concentrations of nitrogen oxides (NOx, NO, NO2), ozone (O3), and particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5) are determined in the ambient air.

The data obtained from the new stations installed under the project will be gradually published on the portal of the National Environmental Agency at-www.air.gov.ge.
