Aquaculture

The International Day for the Protection of the Black Sea has been celebrated since 1996. In connection with this day, the National Environmental Agency conducted another study of the water quality of the Black Sea.

Samples taken from the Black Sea were sent for analysis to the National Environmental Agency’s accredited laboratory for ambiet air, water and soil analysis. The laboratory is equipped with high-precision analytical instruments and fully meets modern standards.

The National Environmental Agency continuously monitors the water quality of the Black Sea. Studies are carried out monthly at 12 points; hydrobiological and chemical parameters are determined, including 13 heavy metals, total petroleum hydrocarbons, 16 polyaromatic hydrocarbons and other physicochemical parameters.

It is noteworthy that the National Environmental Agency conducts such important research areas in the Black Sea as water ecology and aquatic biodiversity.

Also, the agency annually conducts scientific research in the Black Sea waters of Georgia, aimed at assessing fish resources in Georgian marine waters and determining fish stocks.
