Geological report was prepared at the National Environmental Agency
Geology
The specialists of the Geology Department at the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture conducted geological surveys in 2023-2024 across several regions, including Imereti (Kutaisi, Samtredia, Tskaltubo, Terjola, Tkibuli, Zestaponi, Khoni, Vani, and Bagdati), Samegrelo (Poti, Zugdidi, Chkhorotsku, Khobi, Tsalenjikha, Martvili, Senaki, and Abasha), Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti (Ambrolauri, Tsageri, and Lentekhi), and Guria (Lanchkhuti).
As a result of these surveys, state geological maps at a 1:200,000 scale were produced, along with a comprehensive set of mineral resource and tectonic maps. These materials are accompanied by a detailed geological report that provides an in-depth overview of the geological conditions in the surveyed regions.
It is important to note that state geological maps have not been compiled for these areas since the 1980s. Between 2014 and 2023, however, geological maps were created for Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, as well as parts of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, and Guria.
The geological report serves as a fundamental resource for all aspects of geology, including the study of natural geological processes, groundwater, mineral resources, and other related surveys. It is of significant importance for managing geological issues across the country.
Interested parties may access the geological report at the archive maintained by the National Environmental Agency.
