A working meeting was held at the Batumi Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture with the Agricultural Officer of the European Union Delegation, Denis Reis. The meeting was attended by the heads of the Agency's Licensing, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Biodiversity Departments, specialists in the field, and the Head of the Black Sea Protection Convention Division of the Environmental Supervision Department.
The parties discussed the issues of the fisheries and aquaculture direction in the current report on EU enlargement.
In addition, the meeting discussed the activities of the Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Biodiversity Department, participation in international projects and the results obtained, as well as the methodology for research on priority fish species of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and mechanisms for implementing international standards.
The meeting discussed the procedures for issuing commercial fishing licenses, issues of fishing inspection and violations, as well as the control mechanism and legislative framework.
