In connection with the Mtkvari Protection Day, specialists from the National Environmental Agency took water samples from the Mtkvari River.
The physicochemical parameters of the samples taken from the Mtkvari River were determined on site, and organic and inorganic pollutants and heavy metals will be tested by the Agency's accredited laboratory for atmospheric air, water and soil analysis equipped with modern standards and high-precision analytical instruments, the results of which will be known in a few days.
The National Environmental Agency carries out regular monitoring of the quality of the Mtkvari River basin at 67 points annually. The results of these studies are published on the website of the National Environmental Agency.
The Mtkvari Protection Day was established in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in 1999 at the initiative of the "Mtkvari-Araks" coalition.
The Mtkvari is the most important river in Georgia. The river The Mtkvari River basin encompasses northeastern Turkey, all of central and eastern Georgia, almost all of Azerbaijan, all of Armenia, and northwestern Iran.
