Trainings about the meteorological radar maintenance were held for the agency specialists

The United States has given a modern meteorological radar to the National Environment Agency. The radar is supplied by one of the world's leading Finnish companies "VAISALA".

The Radar is installed in Western Georgia, near Kutaisi and will be put into operation very soon. Radar allows, in a radius of about 250 km, to transmit data in operational mode on the types of clouds, their intensity, movement, direction, speed and other physical parameters.

The representatives of the Finnish company "VAISALA" has held trainings for meteorological radar maintenance services in Tbilisi and Kutaisi for the specialists of the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

This radar enables the determination of the expected amount and intensity of precipitation in almost the entire territory of western Georgia, which ensures the timely delivery of information on floods and avalanches caused by the precipitation to the relevant agencies.
