Minister Davit Songhulashvili visited the Imereti Regional Office of the Agency
David Songhulashvili visited the Imereti Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency and held a working meeting with the employees.
The Imereti Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency houses such important structural units as: the Imereti Regional Hydrometeorological Observatory, the Western Georgia Regional Geological Department, as well as the Imereti Laboratory of the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department.
“In the near future, the construction of a new building with administrative and laboratory functions of the National Environmental Agency will begin in the city of Kutaisi, which will house modern laboratories and an observatory, which will significantly increase scientific and research capabilities. I would like to emphasize that strengthening institutional capabilities in the environmental sphere and, as a result, effective and rapid response to existing challenges and ongoing processes is our priority,” noted David Songhulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
As stated by the Head of the National Environmental Agency, Elene Ghubianuri, the new regional office will allow for the expansion of research components and the conduct of research using the latest methods, the strengthening of field geological and hydrological groups, respectively, the attraction of new personnel and the implementation of the state internship program.
