A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between National Environmental Agency and the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center

Head of the National Environmental Agency Elene Ghubianuri and Director of the Armenian Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center Levon Azizyan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the meteorological, hydrological and other environmental fields in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.
At the meeting held within the framework of the working visit, the parties discussed issues of strengthening capabilities, exchanging data and timely forecasting through joint efforts and made presentations on their activities.
“The Memorandum of Understanding with the Armenian Hydrometeorological Service aims to use effective mechanisms for responding to natural hazards in the region, improve coordination at the regional level and exchange data between the parties,” said Head of the National Environmental Agency, Elene Ghubianuri.
It was noted at the meeting that the cooperation envisages the promotion of hydrometeorology, geology and water resources management between the countries of the South Caucasus.
“We are sincerely pleased with the cooperation with Georgia, because it is especially important to jointly implement work related to ensuring hydrometeorological and ecological security.
Today we signed two documents - a memorandum and a joint cooperation program, which includes specific actions to develop the potential of the two countries,” said Levon Azizyan, Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of Armenia.
The heads of the hydrometeorology, geology and environmental pollution monitoring departments of the agency’s sectoral directions were on a working visit to the Republic of Armenia, along with the head of the National Environmental Agency, Elene Ghubianuri.
