Assessment of Black Sea Water Quality is Ongoing
Aquaculture
National
Environmental Agency continuously monitors the water quality of the Black Sea
on a monthly basis at 12 monitoring points. The studies assess hydrobiological
and chemical parameters, including 13 heavy metals, total petroleum
hydrocarbons, 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as the concentration
of other physicochemical indicators.
Samples collected
from the Black Sea are sent for analysis to the accredited Air, Water, and Soil
Analysis Laboratory of the National Environmental Agency, which is equipped
with high-precision modern instruments and fully complies with international
standards.
According to the
laboratory studies conducted to date, the water quality of the Black Sea
remains within established standards along the entire Georgian coastline.
It is noteworthy
that the National Environmental Agency continues to actively improve and
enhance its monitoring system in accordance with the requirements of the
European Union Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
The results of
the laboratory studies conducted by the National Environmental Agency are
published on the Agency’s official website.
