Swiss experts paid a working visit to the National Environmental Agency

Within the framework of the ongoing project “Strengthening Climate Change Adaptation Capacities in Georgia, Phase 2”, Swiss experts Markus Zimmermann and Ricarda Bendergal visited the National Environment Agency.
The experts held working meetings with representatives of the Geology and Hydrometeorology Departments of the Agency; field expeditions were carried out in the territories of the project municipalities - Chokhatauri, Vani, Baghdati and Kobuleti.
Within the framework of the expedition, the Swiss experts, together with representatives of the Hydrometeorology Department, discussed the avalanche hazard maps developed within the framework of the first phase of the project and future issues of activities in this direction on site.
Within the framework of the same expedition, together with representatives of the Geology Department of the National Environment Agency, a visual inspection of areas particularly affected by landslide processes was carried out in the territories of Kobuleti, Vani and Baghdati municipalities.
The project “Strengthening Climate Change Adaptation Capacities in Georgia, Phase 2” is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The initiative is part of a large-scale climate program that contributes to reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change in Georgia. The program is implemented by the Government of Georgia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Georgia, Sweden and Switzerland.
