Geology hazard assessment using modern technologies

Within the framework of the project “Enhancing Geological Hazard Monitoring and Risk Mitigation through InSAR Data Interpretation and Capacity Building”, experts from the Italian companies TRE Altamira and IMAGEO paid a working visit to the National Environment Agency.
The experts held working meetings with the Deputy Head of the Agency, Tamar Sharashidze, and representatives of the Geology Department. The training was held on the topic of using modern remote sensing (satellite) techniques for geological hazard identification.
Within the framework of the visit, field trips were carried out to areas particularly affected by landslide processes.
The project "Enhancing Geological Hazard Monitoring and Risk Mitigation through InSAR Data Interpretation and Capacity Building" aims to compare satellite images from different periods, identify landslides, determine their movement speed and other characteristics, as well as update the geological hazard database and provide recommendations on measures to be taken.
