Statement regarding the events that occurred in the villages of Khemaghali and Ghverk in Kharagauli Municipality
Geology
According to the
National Environmental Agency, a landslide in the villages of Khemaghali and
Ghverk in Kharagauli Municipality has become active. The landslide masses have
partially blocked the river Korneba.
In
order to assess potential additional risks, specialists from the National
Environmental Agency promptly evaluated the situation. According to preliminary
information, the population is not under threat.
The Agency’s geologists remain on site. Together with relevant agencies, they have issued recommendations, which include carrying out clearing works in the accumulation area, as well as establishing monitoring in the landslide zone.
