The National Environment Agency conducted monitoring of glacial valleys across the country
Hydrometeorology
Within the framework of the study, the Agency’s specialists conducted helicopter overflights of glacial valleys, carried out visual and instrumental monitoring through field expeditions, captured aerial imagery using drones, and processed and analyzed the collected material in office settings.
Using modern technologies, the expedition will assess glacial hazards across the entire country and identify areas at potential risk.
It is noteworthy that, against the backdrop of climate change, the risk of natural hazards is increasing in the periglacial zones of the Caucasus. Therefore, the National Environment Agency periodically conducts targeted monitoring of valleys prone to geodynamic processes in various regions of Georgia.
