Specialists from the National Environmental Agency participated in the 50th anniversary meeting of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) held in Bologna, Italy.
Within the framework of the working meeting, participants shared international practices and experiences in the field of weather forecasting. The Agency’s representative, meteorologist Davit Loladze, delivered a presentation on the topic “Integration of ECMWF Products into Hydrological Modelling.”
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is one of the world’s leading organizations in the field of meteorology. It produces and distributes numerical weather forecasts for 34 European member states, cooperates with national meteorological and hydrological services, and supports capacity building efforts in its member states.
Georgia became a co-operating state of ECMWF in December 2021. Through ongoing collaboration, the Agency receives ECMWF’s advanced meteorological data and forecasting products on a continuous basis, which are critically important for improving the accuracy of weather forecasts and enhancing the effectiveness of early warning systems in Georgia.
