Georgia’s Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, the Head of
the National Environmental Agency, Elene Ghubianuri, presented the Agency’s
2025 report and future plans to committee members.
The Head of the Agency spoke about
the structural changes implemented during the year and the work carried out in
line with the institution’s core functions. Elene Ghubianuri highlighted the
reform of the Environmental Assessment Code, which ensures, on the one hand,
the maintenance of high environmental protection standards and, on the other,
the smooth implementation of activities that are of great importance for
development and economic progress.
It was noted that the Agency is
currently undergoing active technological modernization, including the
introduction of modern information and communication technologies aligned with
international standards. This will increase the accuracy of results and support
the development of early warning systems. Active efforts are also underway to
improve coordination among relevant institutions, making it more flexible and
ensuring a more effective early warning system for public safety.
Elene Ghubianuri also spoke about
progress in the Agency’s key areas, including hydrometeorology, geology,
environmental pollution monitoring, and Black Sea biodiversity research, as
well as planned infrastructure projects, geodynamic processes, and ongoing
