A new meteorological station has been installed in Lagodekhi by the National Environmental Agency
Hydrometeorology
The National Environmental Agency
has established a meteorological station in the alpine zone of Lagodekhi
Protected Areas. The station enables continuous measurement of meteorological
parameters, including atmospheric pressure, air temperature and humidity,
precipitation levels, wind speed and direction, as well as real-time online
transmission of data.
A working meeting dedicated to
ongoing projects was attended by the Deputy Head of the National Environmental
Agency, Irakli Megrelidze, who spoke about the importance of the meteorological
station.
The meteorological data obtained
from the station are important both for tourism development in the region and
for scientific purposes. The selection of locations for such stations is based
on climatic factors and terrain considerations. At present, two meteorological
stations are operating within the Lagodekhi area.
It should be noted that the
National Environmental Agency is actively implementing the expansion of the
hydrometeorological observation network, as well as the introduction of modern
information, telecommunications, and forecasting systems. Across the country,
256 hydrometeorological stations have already been installed, which will
significantly improve the quality of weather forecasting.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Agency of Protected Areas and the private sector.
