Statement on the Increase of Particulate Matter in the Ambient Air
Environmental pollution monitoring
In the territory of Georgia, increased concentrations of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) are still being recorded in the ambient air, which is caused by the spread of desert dust masses entering the country from the south.
Compared to previous days, transboundary air pollution has slightly weakened. The process depends on synoptic conditions. The level of particulate matter is expected to continue decreasing in the coming days.
The LEPL National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia carries out continuous monitoring of ambient air quality.
Any interested person has the opportunity to access information about the state of air quality and receive recommendations on the ambient air quality portal air.gov.ge, in the “Recommendations” section.
It is noteworthy that the increase in particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) concentrations in the ambient air has been recorded in Georgia since November 6.
