Hydrometeorology
A consultative workshop was organized by the National Environmental Agency to present proposals developed for multi-hazard forecasting platforms and early warning protocols.
During the meeting, participants discussed various ongoing activities within the project The Head of the Hydrology Department of the Agency, Ioseb Kinkladze, presented on the expansion of the hydrometeorological network and the development of forecasting and early warning systems.
The workshop was attended by specialists from relevant public agencies, along with representatives from the National Environmental Agency and the program.
This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the ongoing project, "Scaling-up Multi-Hazard Early Warning System and the Use of Climate Information in Georgia." The project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), with the primary goal of reducing the risks of disasters caused by climate change.
One of the program's directions is the creation of multi-hazard forecasting platforms at the national level and facilitating the implementation of an early warning system.
The initiative is part of a large-scale climate program being implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and Georgia and Switzerland.
