A specialist from the Fisheries,
Aquaculture and Water Biodiversity Department of the National Environmental
Agency, Sopio
Nikolaishvili, attended an international training titled “Plankton
Taxonomy and Its Quantitative Assessment Using Imaging Methods.”
The training was held in France at the Zoological Research Institute of Pierre and Marie Curie University, with the support of the European Marine Biological Resource Centre and the project “5D Assessment and Forecasting of Marine Biodiversity.”
The
course aimed to share international experience in modern methods for the
identification of planktonic organisms, quantitative analysis, and processing
of large volumes of data.
Participation in this training is important for enhancing the professional qualifications of the Agency’s specialists and for sharing international scientific practices. Engagement in such educational and scientific programs contributes to strengthening the water resource monitoring system in Georgia and to the implementation of the principles of the EU Water Framework Directive.
