An agreement has been signed between the National Environmental Agency and the Black Sea Commission (“BSC”), which envisages the implementation of the Black Sea Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme (BSIMAP), support for the Regional Marine Litter Management Plan, and the implementation of large-scale preventive measures.
Within the framework of the project, the expansion of the “Adopt-a-Beach (AaB)” pilot initiatives along the Black Sea coast is planned, as well as the gradual introduction of the national marine litter monitoring program, strengthening of regional monitoring capacities, and the development of guidelines for BSIMAP indicators.
The grant project “Interventions for the Prevention and Post-Generation Reduction of Marine Litter in the Black Sea” is funded by the European Union.
It is noteworthy that the National Environmental Agency continuously conducts research on the water quality of the Black Sea.
