A representative of the National Environmental Agency participated in a regional meeting held in Bratislava.
A specialist from the Licenses and Permits Department of the National Environmental Agency, Ani Martqoplishvili, participated in a regional working meeting on electronic waste management for Eastern Europe held in Bratislava.
During the meeting, participants discussed international requirements for e-waste management, including mechanisms for implementing recent regulatory changes in practice and the importance of strengthening cooperation between countries. They also reviewed control mechanisms for the transboundary movement of electronic waste.
Particular attention was given to the environmental importance of proper e-waste management, including principles of safe collection, recycling, and environmentally sound disposal, as well as strengthening control over cross-border transport.
The meeting aimed to discuss new amendments adopted under the Basel Convention on e-waste management and to support their practical implementation. It also focused on preventing illegal shipments of electronic waste and strengthening cooperation between customs and environmental authorities, ultimately contributing to improved environmental protection standards and more sustainable e-waste management in the region.
