A geological report has been prepared

Geology

Specialists of the Geological Department of the National Environmental Agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture conducted geological mapping works in 2024–2025 across the Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti region (Mestia, Tsalenjikha, Chkhorotsku, Martvili), the Racha–Lechkhumi–Kvemo Svaneti region (Lentekhi, Tsageri), as well as the Ochamchire district of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic (using archival materials).

Based on the geological studies, a state geological map at a scale of 1:200,000 was prepared, along with a set of mineral resources and tectonic maps, accompanied by a corresponding geological report describing the geological conditions of the surveyed areas.

It is noteworthy that state geological mapping in these territories had not been carried out since the 1980s. Between 2014 and 2024, state geological maps were prepared for regions including Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Racha-Lechkhumi–Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti, as well as parts of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Guria, and Abkhazia.

The geological report serves as a fundamental basis for all areas of geology, including studies of geological hazards, groundwater, mineral resources, and other geological investigations. It is of particular importance for managing geological issues in the country.

Interested parties can access the report in the archive of the National Environmental Agency, and it is also available via a provided link.
