The National Environmental Agency continues continuous monitoring of atmospheric air quality.
Environmental pollution monitoring
Across Georgia, the National Environmental Agency has launched the next phase of indicative air quality measurements to assess atmospheric air quality.
During these measurements, concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, benzene, and ozone are recorded. The samples are analyzed in an accredited laboratory.
The indicative monitoring is carried out four times a year—in March, June, September, and November—at different locations.
It is noteworthy that the indicative monitoring network is gradually expanding. Last year, measurements were conducted in 32 cities, while this year the monitoring already covers 48 cities and settlements.
In addition, nationwide air quality monitoring is carried out through automatic stations in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe, Mestia, and Zugdidi.
