A representative of the National Environmental Agency participated in the regional climate conference in Tirana

The Head of the Hydrology Department of Georgia’s National Environmental Agency of Georgia, Ioseb Kinkladze, attended the regional conference “United for Climate – Regional Cooperation for a Sustainable Future” held in Tirana, the capital of the Republic of Albania.
As part of the conference, a thematic session was held focusing on the development of multi-hazard early warning systems, the use of modern digital technologies and artificial intelligence, the integration of Copernicus Programme services, people-centered warning mechanisms, and the strengthening of regional cooperation.
During the panel discussion, Mr. Kinkladze shared Georgia’s experience in developing early warning systems, monitoring natural hazards, and implementing activities aimed at strengthening climate resilience.
He noted that disaster risk management and the development of early warning systems are among the Georgian Government’s top priorities. It was also emphasized that Georgia is actively modernizing its hydrometeorological observation network, enhancing forecasting and early warning capabilities, and expanding cooperation with international partners.
The conference was organized by Albania’s Ministry of Environment and GIZ within the framework of the regional climate partnership between Germany and the Western Balkan countries.
The event brought together sectoral ministers, high-level decision-makers, international development partners, and representatives of climate finance institutions.
