May 31 is Chemist's Professional Day
First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili and Head of the National Environmental Agency Elene Ghubianuri congratulated the agency's chemists on their professional day and presented them with certificates of appreciation for their contribution to the development of the field.
The National Environmental Agency operates three laboratories for atmospheric air, water and soil analysis accredited in accordance with international standards, including one in Tbilisi and two regional ones - in Batumi and Kutaisi, where the majority of employees are chemists by profession.
At the event dedicated to the Chemist's Professional Day, Marine Arabidze, Head of the Environmental Pollution Department, made a presentation to the guests on the current situation and future plans in the department.
Along with strengthening technical capabilities, an important challenge is attracting new staff, therefore, the agency continues to actively work in this direction.
Chemist's Professional Day in Georgia has been celebrated on the last Sunday of May every year since 1980.
