June 5 is celebrated worldwide as World Environment Day

On June 5, the world celebrates World Environment Day. On this day, various events were held at the National Environment Agency to raise environmental awareness.

As part of the event, schoolchildren visited the Meteorology Department of the National Environment Agency. The children had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Division and the principles of weather observation on site.

June 5 was declared World Environment Day by the United Nations General Assembly on December 15, 1972. At the initiative of the United Nations, this day is dedicated to one of the most important environmental problems and ways to solve it.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the opening event of the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (NAP) of Georgia and the awarding of the best teachers within the framework of the project “Education for a Green Future” were also held.
