The Sub-regional Group for the Assessment of Black Sea Resources held a working meeting
A working meeting of the Subregional Group for the Assessment of Black Sea Stocks of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) was held at the Batumi Regional Office of the National Environment Agency.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss, verify and finalize the data required for the assessment of the stocks of priority commercial fish species in the Black Sea. The data will be used in modern scientific models that will serve as the basis for assessing the state of fish stocks.
During the working meeting, scientists from the Black Sea region, fisheries specialists and international experts in stock assessment discussed the biological and research data collected on various species.
One of the important directions was the harmonization of methodologies for collecting biological data from fisheries in the Black Sea countries and the development of a unified, standardized data collection protocol.
Workshops of this format are important for strengthening international scientific cooperation, sustainable management of Black Sea fish resources, and strengthening Georgia's role as an active participant in regional cooperation.
