Representatives of the National Environmental Agency participated in the meeting of the Black Sea Resources Assessment Working Group
Specialists from the Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Biodiversity Department of the National Environment Agency participated in the meeting of the Black Sea Stock Assessment Working Group, organized by the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM), in Burgas, Bulgaria.
At the meeting, the participants discussed modern methods for assessing fish stocks and updated data on the stocks of priority species in the Black Sea, as well as developed scientific recommendations and short-term forecasts.
At the meeting, the Agency's specialists made presentations on the topics of "Spatial distribution of the black sea horse in the territorial waters of the Black Sea of Georgia using the sdmTMB model" and "Assessment of the Black Sea horse mackerel stock using the SAM model".
The presented studies received positive evaluation from international experts and demonstrated the country's active participation in the process of scientific assessment and sustainable management of Black Sea fish resources.
It is important that within the framework of the workshops, participants discuss existing data, improve stock assessment models, as well as prepare scientific recommendations and contribute to the process of sustainable management of Black Sea fisheries.
The National Environmental Agency actively continues to cooperate with international partners, introduce modern scientific methods and promote sustainable management of Black Sea biological resources.
