A working meeting was held in Batumi within the framework of the grant project “For further reduction and prevention of marine litter generation in the Black Sea” signed between the National Environment Agency and the Black Sea Pollution Control Commission (BSC).
At the working meeting, the parties presented the results of the activities implemented within the framework of the project, as well as discussed the possibilities of disseminating best practices in marine litter monitoring in Georgia and issues of future cooperation.
Along with national experts, the meeting was attended by Irina Makarenko, Pollution Monitoring and Assessment Officer of the Black Sea Commission, Tatyana Hema, Coordinator of the United Nations Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan, and Glenn Pierce-Oroz, Senior Manager of the “Blueling the Black Sea” Program.
It is important that the implementation of the project will contribute to the gradual implementation of the National Marine Litter Monitoring Program in Georgia and the development of regional monitoring capabilities. Strengthening.
The meeting was attended by Tamar Sharashidze, First Deputy Head of the Agency, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the National Environmental Agency, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, relevant state agencies and other interested parties.
