Memorandum of Cooperation signed to promote environmental education and professional development
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Environmental Information and Education Center, and the Georgian Association of Environmental Managers. The memorandum aims to promote access to environmental information, strengthen professional knowledge, and support the effective implementation of environmental legislation in practice.
Within the framework of the cooperation, joint educational and professional programs, trainings, workshops, forums, and other activities will be implemented. Special attention will be paid to the development of professional knowledge and skills of environmental managers, support for their continuous professional development, as well as the identification of challenges and systemic issues identified in the process of applying environmental legislation in practice, sharing experience and best practices, and developing relevant recommendations.
“For the effective implementation of environmental policy, a close connection between legislation, professional knowledge and practice is necessary. It is especially important for us to strengthen cooperation with the professional sector and those people who ensure the implementation of environmental requirements in practice on a daily basis,” said the head of the National Environmental Agency, Elene Ghubianuri.
According to Tamta Devdariani, Director of the Environmental Information and Education Center, awareness and education in the field of environmental protection play an important role in raising the responsibility of citizens, as well as in making the right decisions in the business and professional sector.
“Our goal is for environmental information to be not only accessible, but also practical and usable. With this memorandum, we are strengthening cooperation with the professional community that works daily on the implementation of environmental legislation and requirements in practice. Strengthening the knowledge and professional capabilities of environmental managers is an important prerequisite for the effective implementation of environmental requirements,” said Tamta Devdariani.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties will also contribute to strengthening cooperation and coordination between the public, private sectors and the professional community.
