A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the National Environmental Agency and the Cryosphere Foundation
A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Cryosphere Foundation. The aim of this cooperation is to facilitate Georgia's involvement in international Antarctic and cryospheric scientific activities and to strengthen scientific capabilities in this field. The memorandum was signed by the Head of the Agency, Elene Ghubianuri, and the Advisor to the Cryosphere Foundation, Robin Woodhead.
Cooperation under the memorandum entails conducting joint scientific research, participating in international projects and scientific events, exchanging researchers, and supporting Georgia's accession to the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). "For our country, home to the unique glaciers of the Caucasus, adapting to climate change and deepening scientific knowledge in this area is a top priority.
Today, as the world faces the challenges of global climate change and rapid glacial melting, international scientific cooperation is of crucial importance; I believe this collaboration will lay the foundation for new, large-scale scientific achievements," noted Elene Ghubianuri, Head of the National Environmental Agency.
The fund in question supports scientific research on the cryosphere. Collaboration with the fund will facilitate the development of glaciological research in Georgia and strengthen international scientific cooperation.
