The National Environment Agency organized a workshop on the development of aquaculture regulations.
“After the adoption of the Law on Aquaculture, work began on by-laws. The National Environment Agency and all agencies of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture are involved in the work process, which is responsible for regulation in this area. The direction of aquaculture is important and priority. The new legislation is a prerequisite for practical activities in accordance with international standards, ”said Mr. Andro Aslanishvili, head of the National Environment Agency.
The plan to develop by-laws in the field of aquaculture was discussed at the working meeting. The participants of the meeting made presentations on the challenges in the field, discussed the international standards for the establishment of zones for aquaculture, its management and the expected results. Also, to develop regulations for conducting activities in inland watersheds and aquaculture facilities located on land in accordance with international norms and standards. Recommendations and deadlines for their implementation were developed at the meeting.
The workshop was supported by the EU-UNDP-funded project EMBLAS-Plus (Improving Black Sea Environment Monitoring - Selected Measures).
