The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, together with the Minister of Environmental and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, visited Kutaisi, where the National Environment Agency, with the financial support of the United States Government, installed a modern meteorological radar.

Information on the capabilities of the meteorological radar was provided to the Head of Government by the Minister of Environmental Protection  and Agriculture of Georgia. Radar allows to transmit data on cloud types, their intensity, direction of movement, speed and other physical characteristics in a radius of about 250 km from Kutaisi.

In addition, meteorological radar can determine the expected amount and intensity of precipitation in almost the entire territory of western Georgia, which ensures timely delivery of information on possible floods and avalanches caused by them to the relevant agencies.

The radar is manufactured by one of the world's leading Finnish companies "VAISALA".
